When I did the NAD+ test from donotage.org they also tested my zinc, magnesium, and selenium. Let’s see what my values were:
Zinc: 59 ug/gHb. This is well within the reference range of 38-98 µg/gHb.
Btw, this measure differs from the μg/dL zinc measure I did on 27/08/2024. ug/gHb is micrograms per gram of hemoglobin. μg/dL is micrograms per deciliter of blood plasma.
Magnesium: 360 ug/gHb. This is within the reference range of 330-570 µg/gHb, but towards the bottom.
This is interesting, as the magnesium test I did on 08/05/2024 was in the upper half of the reference range. Please note that this measure was also different (hemoglobin vs. blood plasma).
Selenium: 0.8 ug/gHb. This is within the reference range of 0.75-1.7 µg/gHb, but also towards the bottom.
The selenium test I took on 28/01/2025 was well within the reference range, so it’s interesting that this test was towards the bottom range. Please note that this measure was also different (hemoglobin vs. blood plasma).
The good news is that all tests were within the reference ranges. In a perfect world, I would have probably liked to see magnesium and selenium higher.
I will take new tests of all of these in late April or early May (that is when I take my next NAD+ test), so it will be interesting to see the comparison.
For now, I will make no changes based on these results.
What’s next?
Next week, I will share a few news stories from the world of longevity.
For any new readers: I am trying to live to (at least) 151. To get there, I follow 2 main principles:
Live a super-healthy life (based on what science deems positive for longevity)
Measure what’s going on in my body and tune any metrics that are off to become optimal
I also summarize interesting news and stories from the longevity space. And I share everything worth sharing with you.
If you enjoyed this newsletter, I would be very grateful if you gave it a ‘like’ (the ❤️ at the top).
Have a good day,
Johan
