Who am I and what’s my story?
My name is Johan Stausland and I was born in Oslo, Norway, on June 20th, 1978.
I have a goal. And that is to live to at least June 20th, 2129.
That would make me 151 years old.
According to Guinness World Records, the oldest person ever was Jeanne Louise Calment, and she lived to become 122 years and 164 days old.
You might think I am delusional to try to live 28+ years more than her.
But..
I don’t think I am delusional. Neither do I think I will be the first person to reach 151. I think several people will beat me to it.
Along the way, I will share the findings and knowledge I obtain with anyone who signs up for my newsletter.
Why do I want to live to 151?
I have asked several people the following question: “Until what age would you like to live?”
The majority of people have responded with an age between 75 and 90.
I have then asked: “What if you could live to 200 with a clear mind and a strong body? What if 150 could be and feel like being 55? Would you then want to live to 150?”
And most people have responded: “Yes, of course!”
That is what I try to achieve. I want to be super healthy and sharp until I turn 151.
Why am I targeting 151 years?
First off, if I can make it to 200, then I will. But I thought 150 was a more realistic target. However, the domain liveto150.com was taken, so I chose liveto151.com. Nothing more complicated than that 😄.
But back to the question: Why do I want to live to 151?
Because I truly enjoy being alive.
Every day is a gift. Every day is an opportunity to feel, see, learn, taste, exercise, talk, and connect.
To be alive is amazing! I have hands that can do things, legs that can carry me wherever I want, and a mind that can think thoughts. How awesome is that?
One day I will no longer be alive. One day I will not have the opportunity to feel, see, learn, taste, exercise, talk, and connect.
But for as long as I can, I will keep doing these things because I enjoy them.
Thank you universe, for having received the gift of living as a human being!
Life expectancy vs. life quality
However, I see little point in living if I need assistance to move.
I don’t want to sit in a wheelchair and depend on another person to take me out. I want to be free and independent.
Put differently:
The most important aspect (and much more important than living long) is life quality.
The goal is to live well, be in great shape, exercise every day, and have a razor-sharp mind. The goal is to maintain optimal life quality.
Is this even possible?
I believe it is. Let me explain what I am doing to achieve this.
What am I doing in order to live to 151? And to optimize my life quality?
We don’t die of old age. Being old is not dangerous. Instead, we normally die because our bodies are unable to fight off a virus, bacteria, parasite, cancer, or something else. In other words, we normally die because our bodies become too weak to fight off this problem.
It is true that our bodies normally become weaker as we get older.
But there are actions we can take to make our bodies maintain their strength as much as possible.
In order to achieve that, we should optimize our physical and mental health.
And that is exactly what I am, to the best of my abilities and knowledge, doing right now. What do I do?
I follow these 9 key principles:
Adequate exercise
A healthy diet
Fasting
Clean air
No stress
Mental health
Adequate sleep
Adequate sunshine
Supplements
